Bridgeton Landfill Closure Plan
Cumberland County, NJ
Fralinger Engineering completed the topographic survey, cap thickness survey of the landfill, delineated wetlands, prepared landfill closure plan, evaluated the surrounding monitoring wells and submitted to the NJDEP for approval.
We completed a ground water and surface water monitoring investigation for lead, arsenic and ammonia as required by the NJDEP. The investigation required surface water testing of the Cohansey River at high and low tides in addition to the landfill ground water monitoring wells to locate potential hot spots that cause elevated lead, arsenic and ammonia concentrations within the ground and surface waters. We also designed a ½ mile radius surrounding uses plan to identify possible contaminate contributors.
With the completion of data collection, Fralinger Engineering prepared the landfill capping bid specifications, bid the project, completed all construction inspection and contract administration.
The construction inspection included material testing oversite, clay compaction oversite, clay cap thickness verification, all final topsoil and seeding and soil erosion and sediment control measures.
In addition, Fralinger Engineering performs quarterly methane gas monitoring for submission to the NJDEP.
